DoorDash has launched home delivery of CBD and THC products, including cannabis gummies and beverages, in select areas.
This expansion caters to the rising demand for hemp-derived products, the company announced. “We’re excited to expand access to products consumers crave as preferences evolve,” said Jacob Morello, DoorDash’s director of emerging categories.
The service, offered through partnerships with retailers like Total Wine & More and DashMart, focuses on top-selling items such as THC gummies, beverages, and honey sticks. DoorDash has implemented safeguards, including ID verification, to ensure legal compliance, with products containing less than 0.3% delta-9 THC in line with federal regulations.
New App Features and Promotions
A dedicated “CBD/THC” tab in the DoorDash app simplifies browsing. To celebrate the launch, DoorDash is partnering with THC beverage brand Cann, offering discounts on multipacks until January 31.
DoorDash views this as part of a broader trend: a Harris Poll revealed nearly 75% of adults aged 21-65 are open to incorporating THC/CBD products into their routines in 2025.
Mixed Reactions in the Industry
Some cannabis business leaders, like Cantrip CEO Adam Terry, applaud DoorDash’s move as a step toward normalization and increased accessibility. However, others, such as Mike Khemmoro of Mango Cannabis, raise concerns about the lack of oversight for hemp-derived products compared to state-regulated cannabis.
“There’s a risk of subpar or unsafe products reaching consumers,” warns Khemmoro. Similarly, Chloe Kaleiokalani of CAKE She Hits Different highlights barriers faced by regulated cannabis businesses, calling for similar opportunities to extend beyond hemp.
Regulatory Challenges Ahead
DoorDash’s cannabis delivery launch coincides with evolving hemp regulations in states like Illinois and California. As the market grows, balancing accessibility with consumer safety remains a pressing issue.
